Salesforce Unveils Agentforce Tailored for Retail Sector

Salesforce has unveiled its latest offerings, Agentforce for Retail and the Salesforce Retail Cloud featuring Modern POS, just ahead of the National Retail Federation’s conference in New York. This initiative underscores Salesforce’s dedication to integrating AI-driven resources throughout its platform.

Brands like Saks Fifth Avenue and SharkNinja are currently evaluating Agentforce in a retail setting.

Introducing Agentforce for Retail. The Salesforce Agentforce enables the creation of AI agents designed to enhance productivity by streamlining various routine tasks. The newly launched Agentforce for Retail offers a collection of pre-configured agent skills tailored for the retail sector, including capabilities for order management, making appointments, guided shopping, and managing loyalty promotions. This initiative aims to assist retail brands in developing AI agents to deliver what Salesforce refers to as “digital labor.”

The newly introduced skills encompass:

  • Order management. Self-service options allowing customers to easily update order details, including payment and shipping information via a conversational interface.
  • Guided shopping. Customers can receive product suggestions from agents using natural language and make purchases through conversation.
  • Appointment scheduling. Facilitates automated scheduling with real-time updates, targeting field services like deliveries, installations, and consultations.
  • Loyalty promotion creation. Offers support for marketers to develop and refine loyalty promotions using conversational inputs.

Salesforce Retail Cloud with Modern POS. This new solution integrates both online and offline inventory data into a single unified platform. Key features include:

  • Clienteling. Associates can create customer profiles that reflect shopping history, preferences, and loyalty status.
  • “Mixed cart” omnichannel fulfillment. Each item in a customer’s cart is tracked with individual fulfillment preferences (such as Buy Online Pickup In Store – BOPIS).
  • Mobile-first design. Associates can conduct transactions anywhere, liberating them from traditional checkout counters thanks to portable POS systems.
  • Inventory management. Comprehensive and intuitive inventory oversight.

The system includes seamless integrations with Commerce Cloud, Service Cloud, and Order Management.

Why this matters. This comprehensive suite of announcements is quite significant. We witnessed a demonstration showcasing conversational engagement with an AI agent during the Agentforce World Tour event last November, and it was truly impressive. This move represents Salesforce’s strategy to standardize Agentforce across its multi-cloud ecosystem while simultaneously enhancing cloud functionalities for targeted markets, such as retail.

“The combination of AI-powered digital labor and a contemporary POS can significantly enhance operational efficiency for retailers,” stated Nitin Mangtani, Salesforce’s SVP and GM of Retail, in an official statement.
